While the integration of digital technology into PAI holds great promise, it also presents various significant challenges. Crucial issues include the authenticity and validity of religious content disseminated in the digital sphere. Conversely, this digital transformation also unlocks immense, previously unimaginable opportunities. Technology enables global access to a wealth of diverse religious learning resources, transcending geographical and temporal boundaries. Furthermore, digitalization facilitates the development of interactive and participatory learning methods, which have proven to significantly boost student engagement and motivation. This literature review comprehensively analyzes and elaborates on the inherent challenges and opportunities in digitally-based Islamic religious instruction. The analysis indicates that for optimal adaptation, PAI absolutely requires the development of adaptive and dynamic strategies tailored to the characteristics of the digital era. These strategies must specifically emphasize the importance of providing adequate digital literacy for the entire educational ecosystem, while simultaneously ensuring the quality and authenticity of the content presented. Through this holistic approach, PAI can empower students with a religious understanding that is not only deep in substance but also relevant and contextual to the realities of modern life
2025-12-10T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Nadrotul Uyun Uyun https://e-journal.iainptk.ac.id/index.php/arfannur/article/view/4211 The Educational Institutions of Prophet Muhammad's Era and Their Relevance to Modern Education 2025-09-28T06:37:59+07:00 Ahmad Fihri ahmad_fihri@uhamka.ac.id Muhib Rasyidi arfannur@iainptk.ac.id Rizki Amrillah arfannur@iainptk.ac.id Anwar Nuris arfannur@iainptk.ac.id
The importance of educational institutions in producing quality human resources was recognized from the very beginning of prophethood, evidenced by the special attention given by Rasulullah SAW to the development of Islamic education. During the initial phase of spreading Islam in Makkah, Prophet Muhammad SAW strategically utilized various institutions as centers for education and da'wah (preaching). Although these institutions were not yet as formal as modern schools or ancient Greek institutions, they played a crucial role in advancing the Muslim community. These institutions served as centers for the regeneration and development of Islamic civilization, laying the foundation for the advancement of knowledge and social development. Among them were: 1) Darul Arqam, the house used for the first, often secretive, teaching of Islam; 2) The Mosque, which functioned as a place for gathering, learning, and discussing social community issues; 3) Suffah, a space connected to the mosque for boarding students and disciples; and 4) Kuttab, an educational institution specifically for children. The significance of this study is to highlight that the architecture of Islamic education was established early on, demonstrating that a commitment to scholarship is an essential foundation for shaping the identity and civilization of the Ummah.
2025-12-10T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Ahmad Fihri, Muhib Rasyidi, Rizki Amrillah, Anwar Nuris https://e-journal.iainptk.ac.id/index.php/arfannur/article/view/4396 Contextual Learning in Islamic Religious Education as an Effort to Ward Off Radicalism Among Adolescents 2025-07-23T20:50:59+07:00 Sururul Murtadlo sururulmurtadlo@stitalkhairiyah.ac.id Faizudin Faizudin faizudin@stitalkhairiyah.ac.id Ahmad Munji ahmadmunji@stitalkhairiyah.ac.id Wasehudin Wasehudin wasehudin@uinbanten.ac.id
One of the problems of radical movements in Islam that threatens national integrity is the radicalization among students, which leads them to systematically attack existing institutions. This phenomenon can be prevented through the application of Contextual Learning. Learning that connects religious teachings with relevant social contexts in students’ daily lives tends to produce a more moderate understanding of religion. This study aims to explore how the implementation of Contextual Learning in Islamic education impacts the ideological resilience of youth. The research employed a qualitative method with in-depth interviews of teachers and students, as well as document analysis related to the implementation of learning. The findings indicate that the application of Contextual Learning not only enhances students’ understanding of religious moderation but also strengthens their ability to think critically about radical ideologies. Significantly, this approach fosters attitudes of respecting differences, rejecting religiously motivated violence, and building students’ ideological resilience in the face of radical penetration. The main contribution of this study to the development of Islamic education is to provide empirical evidence that Contextual Learning is effective as a pedagogical strategy to reinforce religious moderation. Therefore, the development of the Islamic education curriculum needs to integrate this model so that future generations possess moderate attitudes, critical thinking skills, and readiness to face contemporary social and ideological challenges.
2025-12-10T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Sururul Murtadlo, Faizudin, Ahmad Munji, Wasehudin https://e-journal.iainptk.ac.id/index.php/arfannur/article/view/4508 School Human Resource Management (HRM) Strategy Rooted in Culture and Oriented Towards Digital: Responding to Disruption Challenges in an Adaptive and Meaningful Way 2025-06-01T19:27:00+07:00 Dinda Syahfitri dindasyahfitri760@gmail.com Syabrina Yunera syabrinayunera02@gmail.com Dewi Sumiyarsih Syam dewisumiyarsihsyam81@gmail.com Nellitawati Nellitawati arfannur@iainptk.ac.id Hanif Al Kadri arfannur@iainptk.ac.id Merika Setiawati arfannur@iainptk.ac.id
Digital transformation has fundamentally shifted the paradigm of human resource management (HRM) in the education sector, particularly within school administration, which must now adapt to the dynamics of technological disruption. Problems related to learning in PonPes I'anah Futuhiyah still exist, the advantages and disadvantages of expository learning strategies for relevance in the era of modernization. The method used is descriptive qualitative research method by means of researchers observing at PonPes I'anah Futuhiyah Pemalang and interviewing directly to informants as the main source and using archival documentation data to strengthen the results of the study. The results showed that the expository learning strategy is relevant to the needs of students in improving understanding and motivation to learn. This strategy allows teachers to deliver subject matter in a systematic and structured manner. The advantage of this strategy is that the teacher is easier to control the order and amount of learning material. However, this strategy also has weaknesses, such as the lack of interaction between teachers and students, as well as the potential for students to become passive in the learning process. This strategy can help improve students' speaking skills and communication abilities. This strategy is also in accordance with the vision and mission of the boarding school in developing quality students. Far beyond its literal meaning "to read," Iqra’ signifies a comprehensive call to seek knowledge, reflect upon creation, and engage in deep spiritual contemplation. Using a thematic qualitative approach and literature review method, this research analyzes Qur’anic verses containing the term Iqra’—particularly Surah Al-‘Alaq (verses 1 and 3), Al-Isra’ (verse 14), and Al-Haqqah (verse 19)—through the lens of Tafsir al-Munir. The findings reveal that Iqra’ forms the foundation of Islamic epistemology, integrating intellectual pursuit with monotheistic consciousness (tawhid) and ethical responsibility. The study also examines related terms such as qara’a, talā/tilāwah, and kataba, highlighting their conceptual relationship in constructing a Qur’anic worldview. Ultimately, Iqra’ emerges not merely as a command to read but as a profound symbol of the Islamic civilizational awakening rooted in knowledge, faith, and accountability before God.
2025-12-10T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Bidasari Pauspaus, Ipmawan Muhammad Iqbal, Siti Rokhani https://e-journal.iainptk.ac.id/index.php/arfannur/article/view/4256 Innovation of Madrasah Curriculum Based on Boarding School as An Effort to Develop Islamic Religious Education Subject Learning at Ma’ahid Aliyah Madrasah Kudus 2025-05-08T04:45:27+07:00 Tafrihatush Shifa rikashifa@ms.iainkudus.ac.id Ashif Az Zafi ashifazzafi@iainkudus.ac.id
Curriculum innovation is a strategic necessity in Islamic education, especially in madrasahs, to address contemporary challenges while preserving the religious values that form the core of Islamic educational identity. This study aims to analyze the form and implementation of pesantren-based curriculum innovation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at Madrasah Aliyah Ma’ahid Kudus. The research employed a qualitative field study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the head of the madrasah, the vice principal of curriculum, PAI teachers, boarding school managers, and students; along with classroom observations, field preaching (PDL) activities, and supporting documentation. The results reveal that MA Ma’ahid has developed a curriculum innovation by integrating the national Merdeka Curriculum with the pesantren curriculum rooted in classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning). This integration is reflected in PAI learning through traditional pesantren methods such as sorogan, bandongan, memorization, and halaqah. Additionally, field preaching practice (PDL) is implemented as a co-curricular activity to enhance students’ character and social competence. Through PDL, students are directly involved in teaching, preaching, and engaging with the community through activities like sermons, competitions, and worship practice. The novelty of this study lies in its contextually integrated curriculum model based on local wisdom, combining cognitive and spiritual aspects while fostering students' practical, leadership, and communication skills. This research offers significant value by providing an alternative model for Islamic Religious Education that is relevant, applicable, and sustainable. The findings are expected to serve as a reference for other pesantren-based madrasahs seeking to develop holistic curricula that prepare students to be religious, independent, socially engaged, and globally competitive individuals in the face of modern challenges.
2025-12-10T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Tafrihatush Shifa, Ashif Az Zafi https://e-journal.iainptk.ac.id/index.php/arfannur/article/view/4588 Islamic Faith and Multicultural Theology: Islamic Religious Education Strategies to Shape the Moderate Character of Generation Z 2025-09-09T19:11:26+07:00 Salsabila I'tilaful Adzibah 24204011034@student.uin-suka.ac.id Salsabila Nur Imatul Adzillah arfannur@iainptk.ac.id Mahmud Arif arfannur@iainptk.ac.id
This study aims to examine the meaning of Islamic creed (ʿaqīdah) within the framework of multicultural theology and explore its integration into Islamic Religious Education (IRE) strategies to shape moderate character among Generation Z. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach through library research, enabling a critical analysis of academic literature, policy documents, and curriculum frameworks. The findings reveal that Islamic creed, when interpreted inclusively through the lens of multicultural theology, functions not only as a spiritual foundation but also as a social ethic that nurtures the values of tolerance (tasāmuh), equality (musāwah), justice (taʿādul), and compassion (raḥmah). Contextual, participatory, and experience-based IRE strategies prove to be highly relevant for Generation Z, who are critical, adaptive, and digitally literate. The implications highlight the crucial role of curriculum development, pedagogical innovation, and teacher competence in delivering transformative religious education that simultaneously prevents radicalization. However, the study acknowledges its conceptual limitations, emphasizing the need for further empirical and comparative research to test the effectiveness of the proposed strategies across diverse educational and social settings. Accordingly, this study offers both theoretical and practical contributions to strengthening religious moderation among Generation Z in alignment with the vision of Islam as raḥmatan lil-ʿālamīn
2025-12-10T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Salsabila I'tilaful Adzibah, Salsabila Nur Imatul Adzillah, Mahmud Arif https://e-journal.iainptk.ac.id/index.php/arfannur/article/view/4522 Memorizing with the Heart, Educating with Values: Strategies and Impact of Al-Qur'an Memorization Learning at MTs Tarbiyatul Banin 2025-08-06T11:18:08+07:00 Hilda Lailatul Mufida hildalailatul733@gmail.com Eko Sumadi ekosumadi@iainkudus.ac.id
This study aims to investigate in depth the strategies, implementation, and impact of the Al-Qur'an tahfidz learning program at MTs Tarbiyatul Banin.
