IMPLEMENTASI METODE EKLEKTIK DALAM PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA ARAB KELAS VIII DI MADRASAH TSANAWIYAH SUNAN KALIJAGA KEDIRI

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of eclectic methods in Arabic language learning at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Sunan Kalijaga and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors for its implementation. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study were Arabic teachers and students of grade VIII MTs Sunan Kalijaga. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. To maintain the validity of the data, source and method triangulation techniques are used to obtain accurate and consistent information. Based on the results of observations, interviews, and documentation conducted in class VIII of MTs Sunan Kalijaga, it can be concluded that the implementation of the eclectic method in Arabic language learning on the theme of ar-riyadhah (sports) is effective in creating a more varied, interactive, and well-directed learning process. The teacher combines several methods, such as the direct method (mubasyarah), audiolingual (sam’iyah syafawiyah), drills, and grammar-translation (qawa’id wa tarjamah), according to instructional needs. This approach positively impacts the mastery of the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) and enhances students’ motivation, confidence, and participation. It also strengthens the pedagogical relationship between teacher and students in a student-centered learning environment. Supporting factors include teacher creativity, student enthusiasm, and a conducive school environment. However, challenges remain, such as limited instructional time, differences in student abilities, limited facilities, and teachers’ administrative workload. Overall, the eclectic method is a strategic alternative for improving communicative and engaging Arabic language learning.
