UTILIZATION OF INSTAGRAM @Kalbar_presisi AS PUBLICATION AND INFORMATION MEDIA FOR THE PUBLIC RELATIONS OF THE KALBAR REGIONAL POLICE
Abstract
This study aims to describe the use of Instagram social media as a publication and information media for the West Kalimantan Regional Police Public Relations, Public Information Disclosure is one of the bases for a Public Agency to meet the public's need for information related to the running of the police agency, one of which can be done through the use of official social media managed by the West Kalimantan Regional Police Public Relations with the domain @kalbar_presisi Instagram social media has been used since 2017 until now, most of which are managed by the PID Sub-Division and also the Multimedia Sub-Division. The researcher used a qualitative descriptive method. The data sources for this study consist of primary data sources and secondary data sources, namely: 1) Primary Data Sources through in-depth interviews with five informants such as the Instagram Admin @kalbar_presisi, Multimedia staff, PID Cases and PID staff who are directly responsible for Instagram social media management activities. 2) Secondary Data Sources, namely indirect information obtained through notes, reports, reference books, journals, articles, theses, or documentation published by the West Kalimantan Regional Police Public Relations. The techniques used to collect data are observation techniques, in-depth interview techniques, and documentation techniques. The results of the study show that the West Kalimantan Regional Police Public Relations has utilized the Instagram social media @Kalbar_Presisi as a publication and information media through four management strategies. First, the management of informative content in the publication of West Kalimantan Regional Police activities, including published content containing informative values, for example, leadership activities, achievements by exemplary police, solving crimes and criminality, and press conferences. Second, quick response in responding to public complaints, namely public interaction through the Instagram social media account @kalbar_presisi via direct messages and the comments column. Third, collaboration between the West Kalimantan Regional Police Public Relations and the public, such as actively participating by providing information to the West Kalimantan Regional Police Public Relations about relevant events or incidents and helping to disseminate information issued by the West Kalimantan Regional Police Public Relations. Fourth, collaboration with various other Instagram accounts, such as the West Kalimantan Regional Police Public Relations, collaborating with other Instagram social media accounts, such as the @pontianakinformasi social media account.
