Aims and Scope

Journal of Thought and Research on Islamic Education (JRTIE) focuses on scholarly studies and research in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) within formal educational institutions, ranging from primary education to higher education. The journal welcomes conceptual, theoretical, empirical, and interdisciplinary studies that contribute to the advancement of knowledge, theory, policy, and practice in Islamic Religious Education.

The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

1. Islamic Religious Education Curriculum and Instruction: Curriculum development, instructional design, teaching strategies, learning models, and assessment in Islamic Religious Education.
2. Islamic Educational Thought and Philosophy: Philosophical foundations, educational theories, classical and contemporary Muslim scholars' perspectives, and their relevance to Islamic Religious Education in formal educational settings.
3. Teaching and Learning in Islamic Religious Education: Learning processes, student engagement, learning outcomes, pedagogical approaches, and the development of religious knowledge, attitudes, and competencies.
4. Islamic Religious Education Teacher Education and Professional Development: Teacher competencies, professional identity, pedagogical practices, teacher preparation, and continuous professional development for Islamic Religious Education educators.
5. Educational Technology and Innovation in Islamic Religious Education: Digital learning, educational media, technology-enhanced instruction, artificial intelligence, and innovative approaches to teaching and learning in Islamic Religious Education.

JRTIE prioritizes manuscripts that demonstrate clear academic contributions to the theory, development, implementation, evaluation, or improvement of Islamic Religious Education in formal educational institutions. Studies focusing exclusively on general religious life, family education, community religious activities, or Islamic social practices without a substantive connection to Islamic Religious Education in formal educational institutions fall outside the journal's scope.
